CALGARY – Rising juniors Abby Stonehouse and Grace Outwater of the Penn State women's hockey team have been invited to Hockey Canada's 2026 National Women's Team Development Camp, Hockey Canada announced Friday morning.
The camp features the top 40 collegiate players in Canada and serves as part of Hockey Canada's evaluation process for selecting the roster that will compete in a three-game series against the United States in Richmond, British Columbia, Aug. 10-16. It also marks the first step in the selection process for the 2027 Euro Hockey Tour Series in the Czech Republic.
Stonehouse and Outwater have previously been part of Hockey Canada's player development pipeline. Stonehouse represented Canada at the 2023 IIHF U18 Women's World Championship, earned a bronze medal at the 2023 Canada Winter Games and also competed at the 2023 National Women's Under-18 Championship. Outwater was invited to Canada's National Women's Team camp in the summer of 2023.
Stonehouse appeared in all 39 games during her sophomore campaign, recording 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points.
Outwater finished second on the team with 24 goals while adding 16 assists for 40 points. She set the Penn State sophomore single-season record with 24 goals, which ranked second in Atlantic Hockey America and tied for 11th nationally. Her 40 points were third in the conference and tied for 27th in the nation. Outwater also recorded six game-winning goals, ranking second in the AHA and tied for fourth nationally, while her two shorthanded goals tied for first in the conference and sixth nationally. She captured the AHA scoring title with 31 points in conference play and earned All-AHA First Team honors.
The duo helped lead Penn State to its fourth consecutive Atlantic Hockey America Tournament championship, the program's first NCAA Tournament victory and its inaugural NCAA Frozen Four appearance. Pegula Ice Arena also hosted the NCAA Women's Frozen Four for the second time in program history.
