COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Rising sophomore Sophie Morrow of the Penn State women’s hockey team has been selected to USA Hockey’s National Women’s Collegiate Select Team to compete in a three-game series against Canada's National Women's Development Team, as announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.
Morrow is one of eight defensemen on the 25-player roster selected to represent the United States in the series, held Aug. 10-16 in Richmond, British Columbia. She will face Penn State teammates Abby Stonehouse and Grace Outwater, who were selected to represent Canada in the three-game series.
Morrow earned her spot on the roster following her participation in the 2026 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival. She was one of 46 of the nation’s top collegiate players invited to compete Aug. 2-9 at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, N.Y.
This marks Morrow’s first opportunity to represent the United States in international competition. She has previously been part of USA Hockey’s player development pipeline, attending two development camps prior to earning an invitation to this year’s National Festival.
In her rookie season, Morrow skated in all 39 contests, tallying three goals and 13 assists for 16 points. She helped Penn State capture its fourth consecutive Atlantic Hockey America championship, earn the program’s first NCAA Tournament victory and advance to its first NCAA Frozen Four. Penn State also served as the host institution for the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four at Pegula Ice Arena for the second time in program history.
