MATCH DAY: Penn State WSOC vs. Brown

OPENING KICKOFF

• Penn State women’s soccer continues a three-match homestand when the team hosts Brown at Jeffrey Field on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET) with a live broadcast on B1G+. The program will honor six seniors prior to the match: Lily Boyden, Mackenzie Gress, Kayleigh Herr, Paige Kalal, Molly Martin and Kaelyn Wolfe. Additionally, the Blue & White will celebrate Alumni Day and host the March to the Match. 

• Erica Dambach, serving as the head coach of the Nittany Lions for the 20th season, earned her 300th career victory as the leader of Penn State women's soccer on Thursday against Bucknell. With the triumph, Dambach further cemented her status as one of the all-time great coaches in collegiate women's soccer and Penn State Athletics. 

• Following the 5-0 shutout, the Nittany Lions improved to 25-3-5 in home openers at Jeffrey Field, including a 12-2-5 mark under Dambach, since the program’s inaugural season in 1994. Overall, the program is 294-43-18 at Jeffrey Field. 

• Five different goal scorers fueled the Penn State attack in the victory over Bucknell. Freshman midfielder Paige Pasiniski notched her first collegiate goal in her first start. Redshirt sophomore defender Lilly Burger tallied her second career goal with a header off a corner kick. Sophomore defender Hannah Jordan cleaned up her own penalty kick early in the second half before junior forward Aubrey Kulpa and Wolfe tacked on two more in the 5-0 win. 

• The Penn State defensive unit put together its first clean sheet of the season, led by Gress between the pipes. The Nittany Lion keeper made three saves before being relieved by freshman Lily Selvy in the 72nd minute. The Blue & White back line made multiple key stops to hold the Bison off the score sheet including two pivotal moments that saw Brooklyn Antonucci and Herr save great chances for Bucknell. 

BRING ON BROWN

• Brown enters play on Sunday with a 2-1-0 record after a 1-0 victory over UConn on Thursday.  

• The Bears opened the 2026 season with a 4-0 shutout victory at home against New Haven, followed by a 0-1 loss to Holy Cross. 

• Four different players have found the back of the net his season for Brown: Senior Angelina Vargas, junior Kyra Treanor, and freshmen Taylor Green and Georgia Steinbach, both of whom scored off the bench against New Haven. 

• Vargas leads the team with four points thus far, totaling two goals and one assist. She was the lone goal scorer against UConn. 

• The Bears have been aggressive on offense to begin the season, taking 44 shots compared to their opponents’ 17 in addition to a 27-4 advantage in corner kicks.  

• The goalkeeper tandem of senior Gurleen Toor and sophomore Addison Etter have saved a combined nine shots through the first three matches. After splitting time the first two matches, Toor earned a full 90-minute start against UConn. She is yet to allow a goal with five saves to her name.

STORY OF THE SERIES

• Penn State and Brown have only met once before at the 2008 UConn Classic. The two sides battled to overtime before the Bears ultimately took the 1-0 win. 

• The Nittany Lions have traditionally done well against Ivy Leage opponents, with an all-time record of 18-4-0.
