MATCH DAY: Penn State MSOC at Washington

KICKOFF

The Nittany Lions are looking to remain in the win column on Friday night at 10:30 p.m. ET in their matchup against the Washington Huskies.  

Penn State is coming off a 1-0 victory against Yale at home last Friday, moving their overall record to 2-2.

B1G THINGS

The Nittany Lions had three student-athletes tabbed as Big Ten Players to Watch. The group includes Daniel Peluffo-Wiese, Noah Förster, and Joe Buckley. 

Through two games, Förster made his impact immediate, dishing an assist on Penn State’s first goal under Coach Dow and earning his first career start in game two. 

Peluffo-Wiese has totaled six saves in four contests, and a shutout in the recent game against Yale.

Oh Captain, My Captain

Graduate Student Grant McIntosh and sophomore Joe Sheridan will serve as the captainship for Penn State in the 2026 season.

Sheridan was one of three PSU returners from last year’s squad, while McIntosh brings four years of college soccer experience to Happy Valley from Duquesne and Akron.

HUNTING THE HUSKIES

The Huskies enter the 2026 season as reigning national champions, after their overtime win against NC State last fall. 

Washington is coached by Jamie Clark, who following 15 seasons has a record of 190-72-41, and led the team to its first national title.  

Washington was ranked first in the 2026 Big Ten Preseason Poll.  

Harrison Bertos, Zach Ramsey and Alex Hall were all termed Big Ten Players to Watch this season.  

All three were also listed on TopDrawerSoccer’s Preseason Top 100 List, checking in at No. 3, No. 12 and No. 27 respectively.  

Ramsey, a junior, is currently ranked first nationally in goals per game, points per game, shots on goal per game, total goals and total points. He also achieved the first hat trick in the NCAA for the 2026 season.

This game is only the third meeting between Penn State and Washington. The Nittany Lions are down in the all-time series 0-3.
