Burgdorf Named B1G Women's Volleyball Freshman of the Week

She helped Penn State post sweeps over DePaul, No. 4 Stanford, and Ohio

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Haley Burgdorf was named the Big Ten Women’s Volleyball Freshman of the Week on Monday, earning the award after helping Penn State go 3-0 with sweeps over DePaul, No. 4 Stanford, and Ohio last week.

Burgdorf was solid all three matches but had her breakout performance in the three-set win over Stanford on Friday night at The Palestra. She hit .450 with 10 kills, nine digs, and two aces, all of which were career highs. She scored the final two points of the sweep with a kill and an ace.

For the week, Burgdorf hit .463 with 2.67 kills and 1.67 digs per set. The outside hitter totaled eight kills on .545 hitting and added five digs in the sweep over DePaul. She finished the week with six kills on .400 hitting in the sweep over Ohio.

Burgdorf is Penn State’s first Big Ten Freshman of the Week since Caroline Jurevicius on Dec. 2, 2024.

The Nittany Lions are back in action when they host Villanova on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
