MacTier, Ontario – The Penn State men’s golf team raced up the leaderboard during the final round of the Canadian Collegiate Invitational at Öviinbyrd Golf Club in MacTier, Ontario, on Tuesday to finish the week eighth in the 13-team field.
The Nittany Lions fired a 12-over, 296, during Tuesday’s final round to move up four spots on the leaderboard finishing the week at 41-over, 893.
New Mexico dethroned Notre Dame as the lone team under par for the week finishing 5-under, 847, and a full 10 shots clear of the Irish in second with Santa Clara (12-over) and Mississippi State (19-over) finishing third and fourth while Rutgers and Missouri tied for fifth at 25-over to round out the top-5.

Senior classmates Tim Peters and Alex Creamean paced the team during the week north of the border finishing tied for 15th and tied for 18th, respectively in the 73-player field. Creamean moved up 13 spots over the final 18 holes to finish the week 7-over, 220, while Peters carded his best round of the week to open the tournament on Sunday firing a 1-under, 70, and concludes the tournament at 5-over, 218.
Junior Will Preston sandwiched a 76 between a pair of 75s to finish the week tied for 35th at 13-over, 226, moving up 12 spots on the final day. Freshman Ravi Desai had his best round on Monday carding a 4-over, 75, and finished the week 17-over, 230.
Colton Lusk rounded out the team scoring a 21-over, 234, while Jackson Saroney, playing as an individual, opened with an even-par, 71, and finished the week 8-over, 221, following rounds of 76 and 74, to finish the week tied for 23rd.
Penn State will take the next week off from competition before competing at the Windon Memorial hosted by Northwestern at Owentsia Club in Lake Forest, Illinois on September 28-29.
