ROSEMONT, Ill. – First-year Vivian Kipruto of the Penn State Cross Country team was named the Big Ten Women’s Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon.
Kipruto was Penn State’s top women’s finisher at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational on Sept. 11, placing fourth in the 6K with a time of 20:45.4 at Penn State’s Blue and White Golf Courses.
The week prior, Kipruto finished second overall in the 5K at the Dolan Duals, hosted by Lock Haven University, finishing in 17:34 in her collegiate cross-country debut.
Penn State women’s cross country returns to action Saturday, Sept. 26, traveling to Princeton, N.J., for the Princeton Fall Classic. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m.
