Monfils and Grigoras Set To Represent Penn State at ITA All-American Championships

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Maelie Monfils and Patricia Grigoras will represent Penn State women’s tennis at the ITA All-American Championships, held Sept. 19-27 in Cary, North Carolina. Both players will compete in the singles competition before teaming up in doubles, with both entering as pre-qualifiers.

Grigoras will face University of Miami’s Michaela Laki on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., while Monfils will also take the court at 10:30 a.m against Oklahoma’s Laura Brunkel.

The duo will then team up for doubles on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against UNC’s Alexis Nguyen and Ishika Ashar.

Grigoras, who received All-Big Ten Second Team honors last season, won her first two pre-qualifying matches in last year’s ITA All-American Championships. Grigoras finished the 2025-26 season with a 17-16 singles record, including a 7-5 mark in Big Ten play.

Monfils also competed in the ITA All-American Championships this past year, winning her first prequalifying singles match and winning her prequalifying consolation doubles match after losing her first. Monfils finished last season with a 5-4 record in Big Ten doubles play.

Saturday will mark the first time Grigoras and Monfils have teamed up in doubles competition.
