Penn State Student-Athlete Postgame Quotes vs. Wisconsin

Quotes from Penn State Football student-athletes following Penn State's game against Wisconsin on September 26, 2026

Rocco Becht | QB | R-Sr.

Q: Rocco, how would you evaluate your performance from today?

A: Not great. You know, like I said, I’ve got to be better for the offense. I’ve got to be better for this team. I can’t put us in scenarios where our backs are backed up, and we’ve got to have a big play.

Q: Why do you feel like the offense couldn’t get anything going today?

A: You know, I feel like the effort and everything was there. Details might be a little off in some areas, but again, that’s just us having to be better in practice, having to be better on the field, and communicating more.

Q: Do you feel the first three games prepared you for the physicality in the stadium and the size tonight?

A: Yeah, I don’t think that has anything to do with it. You know, we’ve all been here. We’re all older guys on the team. We have played in big games before, and I don’t think that has anything to do with it. We just didn’t come out with the win today. We have to be better at doing our jobs.

Jeremiah Cooper | S | R-Sr.

Q: With the offense struggling, do you feel like on defense that momentum just tipped against you guys?

A: I mean it's team football at the end of the day. When we're struggling, the offense brings us up, and when they're struggling, they expect us to bring them up. And that's what we had to do. We still love the offense. They didn't have their day today, but I know they're going to bounce back, and at the end of the day, we still let them score. So, it's not on them. It's on us.

Q: What was different about the fourth quarter do you think for the defense? You guys played so well, but then, you gave up two touchdowns. Was there something different about the feel of the fourth quarter?

A: It was just all fundamentals and technique. You think it's such a little thing, but that can turn it into something much bigger than being a little detail. So, I feel like we were just off in a couple areas that we can get better at. It was self-inflicted. We did it to ourselves, and we’ve just got to get better at everything we messed up on.

Q: As a team leader, what do you do after a loss like this? Because you have a short week coming up. What do you say?

A: We have to keep our heads up. It's literally the first conference game, and we have a whole season to play. So, it's about keeping our heads up. You mentioned a short week, and that's just another opportunity to show ourselves and show who we are. I feel like everything is set up for us right now, and we look at it as well. We just have to put this loss behind us and finish the film tomorrow. Just keep our heads up and go to work.
