BOSTON, Mass. – First year goaltender Morgan Stickney of the Penn State women's hockey team was named Atlantic Hockey America Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.
Stickney made 44 saves in her collegiate debut Thursday against No. 2 Ohio State, helping Penn State force overtime for the first time in program history against the Buckeyes before falling 2-1. Her 44 saves were the most by a Penn State goaltender making her collegiate debut since the 2016–17 season.
Before Thursday, Penn State had also not played Ohio State to a one-goal game in more than a decade since a 3-2 win against the Buckeyes on Jan. 3, 2016.
The series also marked the first time Penn State and Ohio State have played back-to-back games decided by one goal in over a decade since a 2-1 loss on Jan. 2, 2016, and the 3-2 win Jan. 3, 2016.
