Women’s Tennis Heads To Morgantown For Martha Thorn Invitational

Six players set to compete for the Nittany Lions in West Virginia.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women’s tennis is set to compete in their second tournament of the fall when they travel to Morgantown, West Virginia for the Martha Thorn Invitational from October 2-4. Charlotte Benedetti Ravon, Jordina Cegarra, Susan Souhrada, Brianna Baldi, Katerina Dimitrova, and Kate Zink are all set to represent the Nittany Lions in West Virginia.  

Penn State will compete in the tournament alongside West Virginia, Marshall, and Liberty. On Friday, each Penn State player will play in two doubles matches and one singles match. On Saturday, they will play one doubles match and one singles match, and round out play with one singles match on Sunday. 

After a week off from play, Penn State resumes its fall schedule. In its past competition, Maelie Monfils and Patricia Grigoras competed at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina. 

At the competition, Patricia Grigoras defeated the University of Miami’s Michaela Laki in the first round of singles, 6-3, 6-2. In doubles, Grigoras teamed up with Monfils to beat UNC’s Alexis Nguyen and Ishika Ashar, 7-6, 6-0.

After the Martha Thorn Invitational, the Nittany Lions head to Princeton, New Jersey for the ITA Regional Championships.
