Penn State Men’s Soccer Tops Duquesne in Senior Day Win

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s soccer team secured a 3-1 senior day victory against Duquesne on Wednesday night from Jeffrey Field. Three different Nittany Lions tallied goals, including graduate student and senior day honoree Grant McIntosh.

Penn State moved up to 3-8-3 in the 2026 campaign, while Duquesne fell to 9-3-3 overall. Sophomore Justin Ross stepped onto the field for his first career goalkeeping campaign, recording four saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST HALF

The Nittany Lions took the opening kickoff, holding possession in the early minutes of the match. Off a pivotal corner kick opportunity, the Duquesne defense was split by Penn State’s first goal. Junior Etienne Reck launched a shot into the upper net, assisted by junior Noah Forster in the second minute.

Following a quiet 30 minutes, the Dukes’ goalie stepped aside the net and welcomed an impressive offensive campaign from the Nittany Lions. Sophomore Joe Buckley collected the ball from freshman Peter Doran to put another goal on the board in the 36th minute.

In the final five minutes, the Dukes were given marching orders with a red card. McIntosh replied to the free kick with an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net, unassisted in the 42nd minute, to end the first frame 3-0.

SECOND HALF

Duquesne headed the second half kickoff and soon earned a penalty kick opportunity after a battle with the Blue & White. In the 51st minute, the Dukes earned their first tally on the board from Hakon Dagur Matthiasson.

Reck was given a yellow card in the 77th minute due to unsporting. Duquesne battled for possession in the final minutes of the contest, ultimately going down in defeat to Penn State, 3-1.
