Men's Golf Travels to Cullan Brown Intercollegiate in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Penn State men’s golf team travels to the Bluegrass State for the Cullan Brown Intercollegiate hosted by Kentucky at Lexington Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

The format for the week is 36 holes of continuous play on Monday starting with a 9 a.m. shotgun with the final 18 holes being played Tuesday morning, also with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at the par-71, 7,255-yard course.

SETTING THE STAGE

The Nittany Lions and host Wildcats are joined in the field by 13 other teams this week.

Cincinnati, Eastern Kentucky, Iowa State, Kennesaw State, Memphis, Mississippi State, NC State, North Alabama, Tennessee, VCU, West Florida, Western Kentucky and Xavier round out the field.

After a strong showing in his Nittany Lion debut at the Windon Memorial Classic last week, freshman John Curran tops the lineup as he is joined by senior classmates Tim Peters and Alex Creamean along with sophomore Jackson Saroney with junior Will Preston slotting back into the lineup after being out last week.

Curran’s 72.67 stroke average paces the team as he is followed closely by Peters at 72.83 while Creamean and Saroney are averaging identical 73.50 shots per 18 holes.

As a team Penn State is averaging 293.83 per 18 holes through six rounds on the year.

Penn State takes the quick trip to Ohio next week to participate in the Moraine Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Miami (Ohio) on October 13-14.
