Broadcast Rights

Thank you for your coverage of Penn State Athletics. Please note the following reminders per the Big Ten Conference’s and Penn State Athletics' credential policy:

  • Local news media outlets are permitted to record press conferences for use on their own website.
  • LIVE streaming via any social media or web platform is not permissible once a credentialed media member has entered a Penn State Athletics venue where either a LIVE athletic event, press conference or other special event such as a pep rally, open practice, signing day event, etc. is scheduled to occur.
  • The use of drones, GoPro cameras, time-lapse cameras, still and/or video cameras targeted for temporary deployment within any Penn State Athletics venue without prior written approval from Penn State Athletics is prohibited. (Media members wishing to find out more about the university's comprehensive drone policy are encouraged to visit the "Unmanned Aircraft Operations at Penn State" website [www.research.psu.edu/UasOperations].)
  • While a game or event is in progress credentialed media may not post, distribute or share any audio or video of that game via social media or web platforms.
  • Credentialed media’s usage of game footage is restricted to a maximum of two minutes of footage (without audio) and only during the seven days following the conclusion of a game. No live footage may be distributed except by the Big Ten Conference’s respective television rights holder to the game. Footage may be distributed only within regularly scheduled bona fide news programming via television, including such television programming simulcast on the internet, wireless or other forms of new media, but otherwise may not be distributed via internet, wireless or other forms of new media. Any such footage may not be licensed to third parties.

We appreciate your coverage and support of our teams and student-athletes and thank you in advance for your strict compliance with these media rules and regulations. Instances where credentialed media members are found to be in violation of these rules will be reviewed accordingly.

Please feel free to direct any questions to Jim Nachtman, Assistant AD for Media and Video Production, at jtn3@psu.edu.
