This season, the Nittany Lions and PA Pork are once again teaming up to SACK HUNGER across the Keystone State. Pennsylvania’s pig farmers care about their communities and recognize that 1 in 8 neighbors are at risk of going hungry. For each defensive quarterback sack recorded against opposing teams this season, PA Pork will donate 50 pounds of pork – that’s equivalent to 200 servings of pork products for every sack this season! This donation of lean, nutrient-rich protein will be distributed by Feeding Pennsylvania’s network of food banks to the more than 1.5 million Pennsylvanians in need. This partnership shines a light on the ethical principles embodied in the pork industry’s We Care commitment to their animals, their farms, a safe food supply, their people, their communities and the environment. As good neighbors and responsible citizens, Pennsylvania’s pig farmers are dedicated to giving back and helping to build up the communities they call home, while delivering the safest, highest quality pork possible using sustainable practices that are good for the animals and good for the environment.
About PA Pork and the Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council
Pork is the most popular protein in the world -- and with good reason. From the authentic, flavorful experience to its many cut varieties, pork provides an affordable and easy solution for everything Pennsylvanian’s crave. Pennsylvania’s nearly 3,000 pig farmers are united together to provide just that via PA Pork and the Pork Checkoff, a program administered by of the Pennsylvania Pork Producers Council (PPPC). PPPC serves as a steward for Pork Checkoff funds at the state level and implements various programs geared toward promotion, research and education. These efforts highlight the many nutritional benefits of lean pork in a balanced diet and inspire Pennsylvanian’s to gather with family and friends around the table via curated recipes, fresh tips and innovative tricks to explore a world of cooking. Even more, the work of PA Pork and PPPC helps to share the story of PA’s pig farmers and their dedication to delivering the safest, highest quality pork to neighbors around the state. By also creating advancements beyond the barn doors through research and educational opportunities, PA Pork and PPPC helps to provide positive impact to our animals, our farms, our food, our people, our communities and the environment. These six ethical principles guide the pork industry’s We Care commitment, something PA Pork and the state’s farmers live and work by each day both on and off the farm.
