Wide receiver Christian Kuntz appeared in seven games last season after battling injuries that had slowed his progress his initial two years. The former Trinity High School standout will enter training camp ready to compete for a more significant role in the passing game. The determined Kuntz has good skills and provides another big target in the passing game. In the 2012 Blue-White game, Kuntz caught two balls for 16 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown reception from Matt McGloin. Kuntz compiled a 3.33 grade-point average during the spring semester and is a potential Academic All-Big Ten candidate. Kuntz is on schedule to graduate in May. He is among 20 returning Nittany Lions from Central Pennsylvania.
2011 Junior Season
Kuntz made his first career reception against Eastern Michigan, good for 17 yards, in the non-conference clash with the Eagles. He appeared in seven games.
2010 Sophomore Season
Kuntz[apos]s first season on the field was greatly impacted by two injuries. He suffered a preseason knee injury that knocked him out of the initial five games of the campaign. After rehabilitating the injury and returning to form in practice, Kuntz saw action in the win over Michigan. But, in practice prior to the Ohio State game, he suffered a broken collarbone that ended his season.

High School
Kuntz had a standout career at Trinity HS. A three-year starter and letterman for Coach Jeff Boger, Kuntz rushed for 600 yards and eight touchdowns his senior season. He also tallied 130 receiving yards on five receptions and scored two touchdowns. Kuntz also grabbed six interceptions and was named all-state, Platinum 33 and All-Mid-Penn Conference. A team captain, he competed on the West squad in the East-West All-Star game. A basketball and track standout as well, Kuntz was a member of the district championship team and earned Big 15 honorable-mention for his prowess on the hardwood. He was named track athlete-of-the-year and won state gold medals in the 110 and 300-meter hurdles.

Full name is Christian Michael Kuntz. He is the son of Francis and Kathleen Kuntz. He has three brothers, Fran, Brandon and Zack, and a sister, Anna. His father played college football. In his spare time, Kuntz enjoys spending time with friends and family. He is a marketing major in the Smeal College of Business and owned a 3.07 grade-point average after the spring semester.
