Having been one of the squad[apos]s top contributors on special teams throughout his career, Knowledge Timmons is poised to become a prime candidate for a starting assignment in the secondary. He has been an instrumental player in the success of the Nittany Lions[apos] punt coverage squad the past two seasons. One of the squad[apos]s quickest players, he frequently has served as the gunner on the unit, helping Penn State rank in the Top 15 nationally in net punting and punt return coverage last season. However, this season should present Timmons with an opportunity to emerge as a significant contributor for the defense. A cornerback during his first two seasons, Timmons was shifted to safety prior to the 2008 campaign and served as the top reserve to senior Mark Rubin at Hero. The athletic and passionate Timmons returned to cornerback in spring practice and likely will battle D[apos]Anton Lynn for one of the starting spots. All four secondary starters from last season have departed, making Timmons among the most experienced returnees this fall. In addition to his football success, Timmons captured the Pennsylvania Class AAA 100 and 200-meter state track titles at William Penn HS. He is on schedule to graduate in December.
2008 Senior Season
Playing in every game on defense and special teams, Timmons contributed 15 tackles (nine solo) and one interception as a safety. With Temple inside the red zone late in the game, Timmons grabbed his first career interception at the Penn State eight-yard line and returned it 36 yards to keep the Owls out of the end zone for the game. He made two solo tackles against the Owls and also had two hits each against Coastal Carolina and Wisconsin. Timmons recorded a career-high four stops in the Lions[apos] Big Ten-clinching win over Michigan State. He was on the field for 266 plays, led by 46 snaps at Syracuse.
2007 Junior Season
Playing in 10 games on defense and special teams, Timmons made two solo stops against Florida International and single hits against Notre Dame, Michigan and Temple. He saw action on 92 plays, led by 19 in the 31-10 win over Notre Dame.
2006 Sophomore Season
Timmons gained valuable experience on defense and special teams during his first season on the field. He was particularly effective and productive on the punt and kickoff coverage units. Timmons recorded 11 solo tackles and helped hold opponents to an average of just 4.5 yards per punt return and 18.4 yards per kickoff return. He made two stops each against Akron, Northwestern, Temple and Michigan State and

Redshirt season. While he preserved his freshman year of eligibility on the gridiron, Timmons was a member of the Nittany Lion track and field team during the spring semester. Among his top performances were running the opening leg of Penn State[apos]s 4x100 relay team that took third place in :41.43 at the Penn Relays and finishing second in the 200 meters in a blistering :21.60 at the Sykes-Saybock Challenge in February.
High School
An outstanding track athlete at William Penn HS, Timmons made the transition to competing in football and had an outstanding senior season. Playing for Coach Matt Ortega, he made 41 tackles and five interceptions at cornerback and outside linebacker and had 29 receptions and six touchdowns as a receiver during his senior season. Timmons was selected All-East by Tom Lemming and was an all-region pick by PrepStar. He was selected to play in the 2005 Big 33 Classic. Timmons won the state Class AAA titles in the 100 (:10.56) and 200 meters as a junior. As a senior, he was second in the 100 meters at the state championships despite having injured his hamstring.
