Emery Etter continues to work hard in his pursuit of a return to the field as the Nittany Lions[apos] long-snapper. With continued progress in the weight room and consistency on the practice field, he could secure an important role on the special teams. Etter is studying aerospace engineering and finished the spring semester with a 3.31 grade-point average. A potential Academic All-Big Ten candidate, he is among 20 returning Nittany Lions from Central Pennsylvania.
2011 Junior Season
Etter battled senior Jon Rohrbaugh for long-snapping duties throughout the season, but did not see any action.
2010 Sophomore Season
Etter made his Nittany Lion debut in the season-opener against Youngstown State. He saw action during the initial six games of the season, primarily as the long-snapper on punts, topped by a season-high nine snaps at Iowa.
2009 Freshman Season

High School
Etter was a two-time team captain for Coach Dave Carruthers at Chambersburg Area Senior High School. A center and long-snapper, he was named a Chambersburg Public Opinion All-Star as a senior. The Mid-Penn Conference scholar-athlete and second-team All-Mid-Penn honoree received the Bumbaugh and Facklet-Hower Sportsmanship Awards.
Personal
Full name is Emery Clyde Etter IV. He is the son of Emery and Lisa Etter and has four sisters -- Mary, Anna, Clara and Elaine. His father attended Penn State and was a member of the Blue Band. Etter is studying aerospace engineering and is interested in a career as an astronaut or a NASA engineer. Born March 4, 1991 in Chambersburg, Pa.
