Kyle MacDonald begins his first season as a volunteer assistant coach at Penn State in 2017-18. A 2016 graduate of St. Lawrence University, MacDonald was a four year member of the Skating Saints hockey team, earning ECAC All Academic honors two of those seasons and was also a two year member of the Saints baseball team.
MacDonald spent last season as an assistant coach at Division II Southern New Hampshire University where he served as the recruiting coordinator, assisted in practice planning, and aided the day-to-day operations of NCAA Division II eligibility. Also last season, he was a director at Stop it Goaltending, coaching dozens of weekly private lessons while managing the Hat Trick Training Center in Middleton, MA.
MacDonald has been active in USA Hockey, speaking to hundreds of Level I, II, and III coaches from various age groups about goaltending and practice planning. ??A native of Hanover, Mass. MacDonald was a Boston Herald Goalie of the Year and a three-time Catholic Conference All-Star while leading Xaverian Brothers High School to three straight Super 8 appearances. He was also a member of the Bay State Breakers of the EJHL.??
