Summer 2007: Sean swam in three meets and was very busy as all three of them. At the Charlotte Ultraswim, he swam in the 100, 200 and 400 freestyle and was also on the sixth place 400 free and medley relay teams. He was on the winning 400 medley and 800 free relays teams and also placed second in the 200 free and fourth in the 200 IM at the Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships. At U.S. Nationals, he swam in the 100 free, 200 free and 200 IM and also was on the 16th place 400 free relay team.
2006-07: The younger brother of former Penn State swimmer and four-time NCAA qualifier Amberle Biedermann, Sean made his first NCAA championships appearance after narrowly missing out as a sophomore with NCAA `B[apos] times. He swam five more NCAA `B[apos] times as a junior, in the 200 free and 200 IM and as a part of all three freestyle relay teams, but made the cut this time. At NCAAs, Sean swam in the 200 free and 200 IM and both the 200 and 400 free relays, with an 18th place finish by the 200 free relay team being the best. Biedermann swam NCAA `B[apos] times in all four of those events during the year as well as on the 800 free relay team. He scored points in the 200 IM and 200 free at Big Ten[apos]s and has scored in the 200 IM in all three of his Big Ten Championships. On the year, he had three first place finishes in individual events and three first places in relays and also had five total second place finishes. He had the top times of the year on the team in both the 200 IM and 200 free, the fourth best in the 100 free and the third-best in the 100 breast.
Meet-by-Meet Highlights: Finished second in the 200 free, sixth in the 100 free and was on the second place 400 free relay team at the season-opening meet at West Virginia....Tied for sixth in the 200 free, placed seventh in the 200 IM and was on the seventh place 400 free relay team at the Clemson/Virginia/Virginia Tech/Penn State quad-meet....Placed fourth in the 200 free and seventh in the 200 IM at the Purdue Duals....Picked up points for Penn State in the 200 free (9th place), 200 IM (7th place) and as part of the 400 free relay team (2nd place) and 800 free relay team (4th place) at the Bell Grand Prix and also swam in the 100 free at the BGP....Won the 500 free in his only swim of the year in that event in the dual meet vs. West Chester....Won the 100 free in his fastest time of the year and won the 100 breast in his only swim of the year in that event and was also part of the first place 400 free relay team in the dual meet vs. Rutgers....Finished second in the 200 IM, third in the 200 free, sixth in the 100 free, and was on the second place 200 free relay team and the winning 400 free and 800 free relays teams at the Shamrock Invitational....Finished ninth in the 200 free and 10th in the 200 IM and was part of the eight place 200 free, the third place 400 free and the fifth place 800 free relay teams at Big Ten Championships.
2005-06: Sean had a very successful sophomore campaign, narrowly missing out on an NCAA invite after swimming NCAA `B[apos] qualifying times and winning several events during the season. During the regular season, he won four individual events and was a part of four first place relay teams. At the Big Ten Championships, he picked up points for Penn State in the 200 IM (13th place) and as a member of the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams, all of which placed eighth.
Meet-by-Meet Highlights: Won the 200 free and was part of the first place 200 free relay team in the dual meet with Ohio State....Picked up points for Penn State with a fourth place finish in the 100 fly, a sixth place finish in the 100 breast and on the second place 200 free relay team in the dual meet vs. Kenyon....Placed second in the 400 IM, seventh in the 100 and 500 free, was part of the first place 400 and 800 free relay teams and the sixth place 400 medley relay team at the Shamrock Invitational....Won the 500 free and was on the second place 400 free relay team in the dual meet vs. Rutgers.....Picked up points for Penn State in the 200 medley relay (2nd place) and the 50 free (2nd place) in the dual meet vs. St. Bonaventure, which was the only time in his career that he has swam the 50 free....Gained points for Penn State with a first place finish in the 200 IM and a fourth place finish in the 200 free in the dual meet at Florida....Picked up Nittany Lion points in the 200 IM (6th place) and 400 IM (4th place) and as a member of the 800 free relay (5th place), 400 free relay (6th place), 200 free relay (6th place), 400 medley relay (10th place) and 200 medley relay (10th place) teams at the Ohio State Invitational....Won the 500 free and was part of the first place 400 free relay team and third place 200 medley relay team in the dual meet vs. West Chester....Finished sixth in the 200 IM and 200 free and was part of the fourth place 400 free relay team at the Auburn/Purdue/Virginia/Penn State quad-meet....On the second place 400 medley relay team in the dual meet vs. LaSalle....Placed second in the 200 IM and was on the second place 400 medley and 400 free relay teams in the season-opening meet vs. West Virginia.

2004-05: Top finishes include the 200 IM (1:53.51) and the 500 freestyle (4:42.75) in the season opener against West Virginia and the 200 backstroke (1:57.96) against St. Bonaventure. Against West Chester at home he won two events and a relay, taking the 200 fly (2:05.23), the 100 fly (56.59) and helping the 200 medley relay team to a win (1:43.33). Biedermann won three events for the second time in the season at the Missouri/Iowa Dual Meet, winning the 200 free (1:42.23), the 400 free relay (3:04.60), and the 800 free relay (6:51.78). In his first Big Ten Championships appearance, Biedermann took 11th place in the 200 IM with an NCAA 'B' time of 1:49.41.
High School: Posted first-place finishes two years in a row at the Colorado High School State Championships. He finished in 1:55:03 in the 200 IM in 2001, 1:53:05 in the 200 IM and 4:40:00 in the 500 freestyle. In 2004, Sean swam 2:09:08 in the 200 IM to finish 20th at Senior Nationals. He was also a High School Academic All-American.
Personal: Sean Biedermann was born on November 26, 1985, to Michael and Teri Biedermann. Sean has a brother and two sisters, one of which is former Penn State swimmer Amberle Biedermann. He is majoring in kinesiology.
