2013-14 (Sophomore): Barry went 17-5 in singles this spring to finish the year with 26 overall wins... He also went 6-3 in doubles in dual matches... Barry went 9-4 in singles and 13-3 in doubles in the fall, while competing at the Navy All-Conference Tournament, Wake Forest Invite, ITA Atlantic Regional and William & Mary Invitational... Earned singles and doubles flight honors at Navy All-Conference Tournament... Went 3-1 at the Wake Forest Invite and helped Penn State defeat Harvard at the William & Mary Invitational... Barry and Russell Bader went 5-0 to claim doubles flight honors at William & Mary Invitational... Barry combined with Alex Fennell in a 6-5(4) win against William & Mary... Barry and Roman Trkulja were inserted into the No. 3 doubles spot against No. 70 Wisconsin and responded by winning their first five matches. They had wins against the Badgers, No. 51 Minnesota, No. 69 Indiana, No. 63 Nebraska and Iowa. They also were leading 7-6 against No. 36 Purdue when the match was stopped. They clinched the doubles point in four matches... Barry continued his strong singles play this year, competing at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions... He won his first six matches to start the spring, including wins against William & Mary, St. John's No. 33 Virginia Tech, UMBC, Bucknell and Penn. He clinched the match point for Penn State against the Hokies... He was also leading 6-2, 5-2 against No. 33 VCU's Jean Baptiste Mateo when that match was stopped... After a loss at Ohio State, he went on a three-match win streak, with wins against No. 50 Princeton, No. 47 South Florida and No. 62 UCF... He went on a five-match win streak during Big Ten play, with victories against No. 44 Michigan, No. 10 Illinois, No. 28 Northwestern, No. 70 Wisconsin and No. 51 Minnesota. He also had wins against #63 Nebraska and Iowa... He earned a 6-3, 6-1 win against No. 50 UNC Wilmington's Kaue Pereira in the NCAA Tournament First Round... Barry was leading 6-4, 4-2 against No. 4 Virginia's Thai-Son Kwiatkowski, ranked 113th, in the NCAA Second Round match... Barry clinched the match point five times for Penn State.
2012-13 Season (Freshman): Barry led the Nittany Lions with 24 wins during his freshman campaign, the fourth most for a freshman in school history... He tallied 12 wins this spring, including nine in the number six singles spot... Combined with four different partners to win seven doubles matches... In the fall, Barry won four matches at the Big Ten Indoor Tournament, three at both the UVa Fall Classic, and Princeton Invitational. He also earned wins at the Tennessee Invitational and the ITA Atlantic Regional... Impressive start to his collegiate career at the Princeton Invitational, reaching the finals and dropping one set through the first three rounds. He defeated Princeton's Matt Spindler (5-7, 7-6(3), 6-4) in the semifinal... After falling in his first round match at the Big Ten Indoor Tournament, won four straight matches to claim the consolation title. Defeated Michigan State's Christian Roehmer (6-1, 6-2) in the consolation final... Barry and C.J. Griffin won three matches and the draw title at the Tennessee Invitational... Won eight straight matches to start the spring and 10 of his first 12... Eight match win streak featured wins against #59 New Mexico, #48 Alabama, #46 Virginia Tech, #34 VCU, and #21 Texas... Earned tough wins against VCU's Jaime Vazquez (7-6(9), 7-6(3)) and Texas' David Hollner(6-1, 5-7, 1-0(9))... Claimed four victories in Big Ten play, including wins against Iowa, #57 Nebraska, Wisconsin, and #45 Michigan State. Earned the start and wins at the number three spot against Wisconsin's Oskar Wikberg(6-3, 6-1) and Michigan State's Denis Bogatev(3-6, 7-6, 11-9). Clinched the victory for Penn State at Iowa with 6-0, 7-5 win against Andres Estenssoro... Combined with Russell Bader in doubles wins against Iowa and Michigan. Knocked off Iowa's Michael Swank and Joey White(8-6) and Michigan's Alex Buzzi and Barrett Franks(7-4).
Junior Career: Barry was rated as a 5-star recruit by Tennisrecruiting.net. He received all-state honors while climbing to no. 46 in the junior career rankings. Barry served as a three year co-captain for Long Beach High School while also earning team MVP honors each of those years. As a senior, he won the Nassau County, N.Y. doubles championship and he placed 3rd in doubles as a sophomore. Barry claimed doubles championships at the Boys 18's National Open and participated in the National Clay Court Championship and the National Hard Court Championship.
