Before Penn State
Tim Ruetzel, a transfer from Tulane University, comes to Penn State from Munich, Germany. He attended Luitpold Gymnasium in Munich. The top-10 ranked German junior was named the 2014 Bavarian champion and 2015 German Indoor National Tournament Runner-up. As a sophomore in college, Ruetzel clinched Tulane’s first American Athletic Conference championship. In 2018, he was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Month for September. The three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete achieved an ITA singles ranking of 125 in 2019. In his senior season at Tulane, Ruetzel ranked second on the team in total wins and was tabbed to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
