Downed #29 Troy Nation of Campbell, #28 Nate Lukez of AWP and teammate #31 Terrell Barraclough in the finals. Collegiate Duals (12/19-20): Made dual meet debut, pinning #31 Corbyn Munson of Central Michigan in the first period (1:38). Downed UNC’s Danny Nini 4-1. Posted 8-3 decision over Iowa State’s Jason Kraisser. Wisconsin (1/6): Made B1G dual debut with a strong 16-6 major over #16 Garrett Model in Madison. Michigan (1/20): Takedown early in extra time to beat #10 Will Lewan 3-1 (sv) in BJC Dual. Iowa (1/27): Key win in Penn State’s BJC dual victory over the Hawkeyes, used a third period takedown to beat #15 Cobe Siebrecht 3-2. Ohio State (2/3): Rolled to a 14-2 major with 4:10 in riding time over #25 Paddy Gallagher. Indiana (2/5): Beat Derek Gilcher 8-2. Rutgers (2/10): Posted 8-2 win over #33 Andrew Clark. Maryland (2/12): First period pin over Kevin Schork (1:42). Clarion (2/19): Picked up first career tech, 18-3 (4:26) over Trevor Elfvin in dual finale.
Big Ten Championships (3/4-5): Won Big Ten title as a true freshman, going 3-0 in Ann Arbor. Beat #24 Derek Gilcher of Indiana 6-0 and #6 Kendall Coleman of Purdue to advance to finals. Took down #1 Peyton Robb of Nebraska in sudden victory to clinch the title, winning 3-1 (sv).
NCAA Championships (3/16-18): Became an NCAA finalist as a true freshman, earning All-America honors with a 4-1 run to the title bout in his first trip to nationals. Claimed wins over the #31 and #15 ranked wrestlers and then pinned #7 Bryce Andonian of Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals. Beat #2 Peyton Robb of Nebraska 5-3 in the semis before losing to #1 Austin O’Connor of North Carolina in the national finals.
