- Chris Mahon is in his 5th season with Penn State Football, he currently serves as Recruiting Coordinator for Personnel & Recruitment.
- Mahon helps lead the identification, evaluation & connection with top student-athletes across the country. Mahon is involved with every step of the recruiting process – from communication, coordinating & hosting visits, to ensuring each prospective player has an outstanding experience with the Penn State Football program.
- Mahon works directly with the Head Football Coach to create analytical recruiting reports & supports the assistant coaches by creating prospect watch lists & maintaining recruiting boards. Mahon directly oversees all assistant coach recruiting travel, creating the evaluation & contact period travel schedule & overseeing day-to-day logistics.
- Mahon has helped build recruiting classes ranked 6th in 2022, 14th in 2023, 15th in 2024, & 15th in 2025 according to 247Sports. Penn State has signed a 5-star prospect in every class he has been a part of.
- In 2022, Penn State inked the sixth-ranked recruiting class according to 247Sports, which featured the Gatorade & Maxwell Football Club National High School Player of the Year (Nicholas Singleton), three No. 1 recruits from their respective states (Singleton, Drew Allar, & Dani Dennis-Sutton) & six of the top 10 players out of Pennsylvania.
- Penn State has signed the #1 player in their respective states 10 times since Mahon’s arrival in 2021 including the #1 rated player in Pennsylvania in the classes of 2022, 2023, & 2025 (according to 247Sports).
- Since joining the staff, Penn State has had 27 players drafted to the NFL which ranks 6th in the nation.
- As an Operations & Personnel Intern with Athletes First, Mahon was responsible for comprehensive research & presentations on clients, analysis of contract structures, & the development of detailed case study reports pertaining to coaching vacancies.
- In addition to his time at Penn State, Mahon worked with the Cleveland Browns as a Training Camp Operations Assistant helping the administrative staff conduct day-to-day operations, facility management, & team related events.
- Mahon began his career as an Operations Assistant, directly supporting the Director of Football Operations. In his role he helped with day-to-day team operations, assisted in programming events, & organized team travel logistics. He assisted with team meals, daily PowerPoints for the Head Coach, travel manifests, press conference notes, served as a primary contact for camps & clinics, managed facility construction projects, & conducted facility tours.
