Abby Rehfuss joins Penn State as associate head coach in June 2025.
Rehfuss comes to Happy Valley after a yearlong stint at Colgate, where she served as the team’s offensive coordinator. Under her leadership, the Raiders were one of the best teams in the conference at taking care of the ball. The team turned the ball over less than 14 per game, a mark that ranked 23rd nationally. Her offensive unit saw five student-athletes with 30 or more points, including two who eclipsed the 50-point mark. In addition to the attack, Rehfuss coached the draw unit. In her year in Hamilton, Lucy Licata set the programs all-time single season draw control record with 163. Her tally ranked ninth nationally at the conclusion of the season. Her unit ranked top 25 nationally in draw controls per game (15.76) and 26th in draw control percentage (.554) Her guidance helped lead Colgate to its best conference mark since 2022, and its first season above .500 since 2018. Rehfuss also championed four All-Patriot League honorees in her season, three of which worked directly in her offensive unit. The quartet marked the most honors for the Raiders since the 2019 season.
Prior to joining Colgate, Rehfuss served as the offensive coordinator in 2024 for Syracuse under then-head coach Kayla Treanor. She also worked with the draw unit for the Orange, developing Kate Mashewske into the NCAA’s Division I leader in single season draw control wins with 234. She helped lead the team to the program's first ever outright ACC Regular Season Championship finishing with a 16-6 record and advancing to the final four. Rehfuss played a pivotal role in four players earning IWLCA All-American Honors, as well as seven players named to IWLCA All-Region team and ten players earning All-ACC honors.
Before Syracuse, Rehfuss served as the head coach for five seasons at Siena where she helped guide the team to one MAAC Regular Season Championship and three MAAC Championship game appearances. During her tenure with the Saints, she won the 2021 MAAC Coach of the Year, coached over 40 All-MAAC players, and holds the program record for wins in a season and all-time wins.
Rehfuss graduated from Loyola Maryland with a degree in Interdisciplinary Writing & Philosophy and was a four-year letter winner. During her playing career she was a two-time team captain, an IWLCA Second-Team All-American, a Tewaaraton Watch List nominee, a three-time All-Big East selection, and a Big East Conference Champion.
Rehfuss continued her education at Roger Williams University School of Law and Albany Law School where she graduated with a Juris Doctor degree and is currently an Associate Attorney at her family’s law firm.
