Coach Hanberry is an accomplished Athletic Performance Coach currently serving Penn State Men’s Lacrosse and Women’s Tennis, he made an immediate impact in his first season by helping Men’s Lacrosse reach Championship Weekend. He also played a key role in the development of freshmen standouts Hunter Aquino and Liam Matthews, both earning All–Big Ten honors.
Previously, he spent seven seasons (2017–2024) as Senior Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Air Force Falcons football. There, he directed NFL Pro Day preparation for athletes pursuing professional careers and led all aspects of return-to-play protocols for injured athletes, ensuring safe and performance-driven reintegration to competition. During his tenure, the program captured the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy (2022) and earned bowl victories over Power 4 opponents, including the Cheez-It Bowl (vs. Washington State), First Responder Bowl (vs. Louisville), and back-to-back wins in the Armed Forces Bowl (vs. Baylor) and Armed Forces Bowl (vs. James Madison).
Earlier, as Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at Mt. Lebanon High School, he developed comprehensive training systems that helped student-athletes maximize their potential and earn Division I scholarships.
He holds a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from University of Pittsburgh and maintains professional certifications including CSCS (NSCA), USAW-L1 (USA Weightlifting), along with advanced continuing education through ALTIS focused on speed development and movement mechanics.
His coaching philosophy centers on building explosive, resilient, and disciplined athletes prepared to perform at the highest level.
