UNIVERSITY PARK, PA ?C April 2, 2006 ?C The Penn State men??s tennis team picked up their second Big Ten win in three days Sunday as the Nittany Lions defeated the Badgers of Wisconsin, 5-2 at the Sarni Tennis Center.

The Badgers came out strong winning two of three doubles matches, but the Nittany Lions would then win five of six singles matches to pick up their second win of the weekend over a conference opponent. In addition to the 5-2 win over Wisconsin, Penn State also defeated the 59th- ranked Northwestern Wildcats, 6-1 this weekend.

??It was a great weekend for us,?? said head coach Bill Potoczny. ??Our guys did an outstanding job after losing the doubles point of coming out and setting the tone in singles, winning five of six first sets. The guys were exceptionally tough in their singles matches.??

Mark Barry (St. Charles, Ill.), Malcolm Scatliffe (San Bernardino, Calif.), Ryan Berger (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Adam Slagter (Austin, Texas) and Michael James (Clifton, Va.) all grabbed singles wins to help the No. 46 Lions past the Badgers. Barry and Slagter also combined for a win at No. 1 doubles.

Penn State improves to 13-2 this spring (3-2 Big Ten) while Wisconsin falls to 8-8 (1-4 Big Ten).

The Nittany Lions will be back in action next Sunday (April 9) when they welcome Ohio State to Happy Valley for a noon match-up.
