| On Senior Day 2006, Kevin Rudy made his final flip as Drum Major and Dave Johnson greeted him with a salute. Their hours of practice and energy have contributed to the entertainment at Beaver Stadium and the pair deserves to be recognized by all who love Penn State. |
hen Penn State played host to Michigan State on November 18, the Nittany Lion nation said goodbye to 24 senior football players who made their final appearance in Beaver Stadium.
It was also time to celebrate the careers of a pair of student-athletes (try telling them they're not) who consistently excelled in their contributing roles in "The Greatest Show In College Sports" - even if their uniforms are a little less traditional than their classmates in pads.
Strong traditions are a large part of making the Penn State experience an emotional relationship, and it would be difficult to find more prominent figures than the Nittany Lion and the Blue Band Drum Major, Dave Johnson and Kevin Rudy, respectively.
These undergrads performed exceptionally well every time 100,000 people traveled to University Park to see the show, and their value may not be fully realized until next season when successors will take over. Such qualities could easily be attributed to football players like Paul Posluszny and Tony Hunt, instead they belong to Dave Johnson and Kevin Rudy, who are also celebrating the end of their impressive careers on Senior Day in Happy Valley.-->
Both positions carry a prestigious honor that is matched by its demanding responsibilities. Johnson and Rudy accepted their duties, worked relentlessly and shined on game days. Even though their Beaver Stadium careers are done, they have both left their own individual marks in the legacies of the uniforms that they so proudly wore.
With a pair of feature articles, GoPSUsports.com takes a look at the two young men whose contributions will be forever cemented into the Penn State Football Experience:
