Kiersten Wood, already a first team NFHCA All-American this year, was named a second team All-American by the website womensfieldhockey.com.








UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; November 21, 2006 - One day after four members of the field hockey team were named All-Americans by the National Field Hockey Coaches?? Association (NFHCA), two of those individuals were also named All-Americans by the website womensfieldhockey.com. Kiersten Wood (Lititz, Pa.) and Annelise Legel (Morgantown, Pa.) were both named second team All-Americans by the website devoted to collegiate field hockey. Wood was first team All-American and Legel was named to the third team by the NFHCA.

Already a two-time NFHCA All-American, Wood also adds this honor to her two-time first team All-Mideast Region selections and two-time first team All-Big Ten selections. She was also the Big Ten Freshman of the Year two years ago. This year, she was also named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team after scoring two game-winning goals in Penn State??s wins in the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament. On the year, Wood tied for third on the team with seven goals and was fourth on the team with 20 points. She also recorded six assists.


Annelise Legel added another honor to her postseason awards list as she was named a second team All-American by womensfieldhockey.com.






Legel, who was also a first team All-Big Ten and first team All-Mideast Region selection this year in addition to her third team All-American accolade from the NFHCA, changed positions this past year, moving into the midfield from her forward position. She recorded four goals and three assists for 11 points, but also contributed greatly to the team??s defensive effort that saw the team finish the year tops in the Big Ten in most defensive categories. Legel recently played in the NFHCA Senior All-Star game last Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C.
