Nittany Lions Visit Children?' Hospital in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla.; December 27, 2006 ?C Several members of the Penn State football team visited patients at the St. Joseph??s Children??s Hospital here to highlight Outback Bowl activities the past two days.

Seven Nittany Lions visited the hospital this afternoon, splitting up into two groups, signing autographs and passing out mini-footballs during visits with approximately 40 patients during their 90-minute visit. Defensive tackle Chris Baker (Windsor, Conn.), safety Jason Ganter (State College), linebacker Sean Lee (Pittsburgh) wide receiver James McDonald (Washington, D.C.), wide receiver Jordan Norwood (State College), safety Anthony Scirrotto (West Deptford, N.J.) and center Patrick Weber (Arnold) represented the squad.

After taking Christmas Day off, the Nittany Lions resumed practice Tuesday in preparation for their New Year??s Day contest with No. 17 Tennessee. The team will practice Thursday and visit Busch Gardens in the afternoon.

On Tuesday night, both teams attended the Outback Steakhouse Team Welcome Dinner. Close to 400 attended the event, consuming approximately 750 lbs. of steak, 1,100 lbs. of lobster and shrimp pasta and 950 pounds of Bloomin?? Onions.

In addition to the Penn State Football Story Outback Bowl Special presented by Nationwide, which is airing this week, ESPN2 and ESPNU will air the Outback Bowl Preview Special this week. The 30-minute show looks at the Penn State-Tennessee match-up while highlighting numerous Tampa Bay Area amenities. The ESPN2 telecast is set for Friday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m. The show will also appear at least three times on ESPNU including Saturday, December 30 at 9:00 p.m.

The Penn State Football Story Outback Bowl Special presented by Nationwide, produced by the creators of The Penn State Football Story, is a 60-minute program that previews the Outback Bowl clash and includes features, highlights and comments from the Nittany Lions on the New Year??s Day game.

The program can been seen on stations and cable networks and systems throughout Pennsylvania, the Northeast and parts of the Midwest through the morning of January 1, 2007.

On Friday, Dec. 29, the Nittany Lion Hotline Outback Bowl Preview Special Presented by PHEAA will air on most of the Penn State Sports Network affiliates that carry the Nittany Lion Hotline. The program will air from 6:05-7:00 p.m. and feature the Penn State football broadcast team of Steve Jones and Jack Ham and interviews with members of the squad.
