Outback Bowl Pep Rally to be Held Sunday in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla.; December 29, 2006 ?C Penn State fans in the Tampa Bay area on New Year's Eve can show their support for the Nittany Lion football team at the Penn State pep rally, a day before the Lions take on No. 17 Tennessee in the Outback Bowl.

Coach Joe Paterno and the squad, the Nittany Lion mascot, cheerleaders and Blue Band will be joined by Penn State President Graham B. Spanier and Penn State Alumni Association Executive Director Roger Williams at the Tampa Convention Center for the pep rally. The Convention Center is located at 333 S. Franklin St., on the waterfront in downtown Tampa.

Doors for the pep rally open at 2 p.m. on Dec. 31 and the program will begin at 3 p.m. The event is free and open to all Penn Staters and fans.

The pep rally is hosted by the Penn State Alumni Association and Intercollegiate Athletics with sponosorship by Bank of America and Liberty Mutual.

The Nittany Lions and Volunteers will be meeting for the just the fifth time when they clash on Monday at 11 a.m. in Raymond James Stadium. ESPN and the Penn State Sports Network will carry the action.

The Nittany Lions practiced in sunny, warm conditions on Thursday and then departed for Busch Gardens. Both teams will attend the Team Luncheon today at the Tampa Convention Center in addition to conducting practice.
