The accolades continue to pile up for senior post player Amanda Brown (Kennett Square, Pa.) as she was selected to the 2007 Kodak/Women??s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Region 6 Team on Thursday. Brown, who is the first Lady Lion since Tanisha Wright and Jess Strom in 2005 to garner All-Region honors, is now one of 52 players eligible for the 10-member Kodak/WBCA All-America Team.
Brown was an All-Big Ten first team selection for the first time as she completed a career-best season. The senior post player broke the Penn State single-season rebounding record with 317 caroms on the season. She is also the first Lady Lion to win the Big Ten rebounding crown (10.9 rpg) in conference play since Penn State joined the league in 1992-93. Brown was second on the team in scoring this season with a 14.2 per game effort, which is eighth in the Big Ten, and is third in the league in field goal percentage (.593). Brown, who is a finalist for the Lowe??s Senior CLASS Award, etched her name into the Penn State record books as she broke the career field goal percentage record (.589) previously held by Angie Potthoff (.574) and became just the second player in school history to have 1,000 points, 800 rebounds and 150 blocks, joining Andrea Garner.
Brown is one of five Big Ten representatives on the Region 6 squad, joining Wisconsin??s Jolene Anderson, Ohio State??s Jessica Davenport and Purdue??s Katie Gearlds and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton. UW-Green Bay??s Nicole Soulis is the sixth and final member of the All-Region Team.
