UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; March 22, 2007 - After playing its first 14 games on the road and having their originally scheduled home opener on Wednesday postponed, the Penn State baseball team will open its new stadium this weekend with a three-game series against Central Connecticut State. The home opener is scheduled for Friday at 6:35 p.m. with singles games on Saturday and Sunday to follow at 2:05 and 1:05, respectively.

Craig Clark (Phoenixville, Pa.), who pitched the final game at Beaver Field last May, is slated to pitch the first Penn State game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Friday. He will be followed in the rotation by Seth Whitehill (Bellefonte, Pa.) on Saturday and Mark Wyner (Norwalk, Conn.) on Sunday. Wyner is scheduled to get his first start since February 16th in Shreveport, La. against Centenary.

The Nittany Lions were hot with the bats over the last two games of the spring break trip at Oral Roberts, pounding out 28 hits in the last two games, nearly doubling the 29 hits they had in the first five games of the trip. Scott Kelley (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Joe Blackburn (Sinking Spring, Pa.) have been two of the hottest hitters on the team, as Kelley hit .455 and Blackburn hit .375 over the last four games. Both Cory Wine (Stillwater, Okla.) and Matt Cavagnaro (Brightwaters, N.Y.) have hit in 12 of Penn State's 14 games on the year.
