Nittany Lion Lacrosse Recruiting Class Earns Top Ten National Ranking by Inside Lacrosse Magazine

Aug. 29, 2007

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Penn State Nittany Lion men's lacrosse team, under the guidance of veteran head coach Glenn Thiel, will head into the 2008 season with the services of the nation's tenth-ranked recruiting class. The national list is issued each year by Inside Lacrosse magazine and is featured in the September 2007 issue, which hit news stands this week.

The top tier class features incoming attacker Jack Forster (Jenkintown, Pa.), who was named the No. 3 recruit in all the country and is prominently featured in a two-page spread in the issue. Forster is a year younger than current Nittany Lion sophomore Rob Forster (Jenkintown, Pa.), who led the Lions in scoring last year.

Penn State's class, procured by Thiel and assistant coaches Guy VanArsdale and Kevin Conry, features 12 new faces and will help solidify what was already a talented group of returning veterans. "It's a solid class from top to bottom," Thiel said. "Each of these guys can help us down the road and some will help us immediately."

Along with Forster, incoming freshmen Colby Rhodes (Severna Park, Md.) and Will Donley (Pittsburgh, Pa.) earned mention among the newcomers heading to State College to continue their playing careers. "Jack is one of these rare types who make everyone on the field around him better," VanArsdale said in an interview with Inside Lacrosse.

Penn State will take part in two exhibition tournaments this fall, including one at the Boy's Latin School in early October and the Leukemia Tournament in late October. Each event is in Baltimore. Penn State will face Cornell and Johns Hopkins at the Boy's Latin School on Oct. 7, host it's Alumni Game in State College on Oct. 12 and then face Air Force and Towson in the Leukemia Tournament on Oct. 20.
