UNIVERSITY, Pa. - Sophomore striker Katie Schoepfer (Waterford, Conn.) picked up her third honor of the week when she was named to Soccer Buzz's Elite Team of the Week Wednesday. The honors came on the heels of a 1-0-1 weekend for the No. 17 Penn State as they picked up a win vs. James Madison and a tie vs. No. 5 Texas A&M.
Schoepfer started the weekend by scoring the gamewinner against JMU, who came in to the game an undefeated 5-0. She followed it up with the game-tying goal vs. the No. 5 Aggies on Sunday, giving her team the tie in the last five minutes of the game.
Earlier this week, Schoepfer picked up Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors as well as Soccer America National Team of the Week accolades.
No. 17 Penn State (3-2-1) is on the road again this week for a pair of games, including Wednesday night's contest at Bucknell. The Nittany Lions then travel to No. 21 Notre Dame for a 12:30 p.m. live contest on ESPNU Sunday, Sept. 23. Penn State returns home for a men/s/women's doubleheader on Wednesday, Sept. 26. The women's team will meet Colgate that night at 5 p.m. followed by a men's contest vs. Penn.
