Oct. 19, 2007

Box Score

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - No. 8 Penn State improved its record to 6-0 in Big Ten women's soccer play with a 1-0 shut out victory at Iowa. PSU raises its record to 12-2-1, including an 11-game undefeated streak, while Iowa falls to 6-5-4 (2-4 Big Ten). Senior tri-captain Aubrey Aden-Buie (Allentown, Pa.) scored the deciding goal for the Nittany Lions in what was their fourth shutout in the past five games.

Penn State applied steady pressure all game, but it was a corner kick sequence in the final minute of the first half that was the difference in Friday night's game. Redshirt-junior Zoe Bouchelle (Cockeysville, Md.) found Aden-Buie for her eighth goal of the season with 10 seconds left before halftime. Bouchelle's assist continued her scoring streak, increasing it to three consecutive games after two goals and two assists during last weekend's action.

Preseason All-America goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher's (Seymour, Conn.) shut out was the seventh of her outstanding sophomore campaign. Naeher recorded two saves in the victory for the Nittany Lions.

With no points vs. the Hawkeyes, sophomore Katie Schoepfer's (Waterford, Conn.) scoring tear came to an end. Previously, Schoepfer had scored at least one point in each of the last 10 games.

The Nittany Lions held a small lead in shots, 10-9, and also edged the Hawkeyes slightly in corner kicks.

Penn State finished its road swing at Minnesota at noon ET on Sunday vs. the Golden Gophers. That match will be a tape-delay broadcast on the Big Ten Network at 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22.

No. 8 Penn State returns home on Oct. 26 vs. No. 6 Purdue for a Top 10 match-up. That game will start at 7 p.m. and be "Think Pink" Night with fundraising efforts for breast cancer taking place the night of the game. Senior day is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 28, vs. Indiana. The match starts at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network. MB
