NORFOLK, Va. - At the end of day one for the NCAA/ITA Women's East Regional, senior Jenny Shular (Peachtree City, Ga.) pulled off a strong win to continue on in the tournament.
Shular defeated Army's Niki Flach (6-1, 6-1). She will face Katarina Zoricic of William & Mary tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.
"Shular is peaking at this tournament," said head coach Dawna Prevette. "She is playing smart and is determined on the court."
Shular and sophomore Sarah Lotto (Toronto, Ontario) dropped a hard-fought 9-8 (7-3) decision to Amanda Rales and Jennifer Stephens of Virginia.
Prevette was proud of their performance on the court today. "Lotto and Shular played a tough doubles match...it was so well fought," said Prevette. "They proved that they can play at a high level and next time they will win that match."
