2006-07 SEASON - JUNIOR: Finished the fall with a 4-7 singles record...Finished 5-5 in fall doubles...Teamed up with Lauren McCarthy to win the doubles title at the Penn State Invitational...Also was paired with Sasha Abraham (2-1 record), Katelyn BeVard (0-2) and Lauren Holzberg (1-2) during the fall campaign...Finished with a 14-10 overall spring record...Went 6-4 against Big Ten opponents...From the beginning of March to mid-April, won eight-of-nine, including five consecutive victories...Earned a point for the Nittany Lions against #6 Minnesota (Lindsay Risebrough) and #7 Iowa (Kayla Berry)...Went 16-8 in spring doubles play...7-1 record when teamed with Sasha Abraham...Shular/Abraham went 3-0 in the No. 1 doubles spot and had a 5-0 record against Big Ten opponents...The pairing earned wins against #27 Indiana (Laura McGaffigan/Alba Berdala), #43 Ohio State (Julie Blackmore/Ciara Finucane) and #46 Purdue (Neela Vaez/Cigdem Duru)...Went 3-0 when teamed with Lauren Holzberg...The pairing earned a victory against #32 Florida International (Shilla D[apos]Armas/Marijana Cutuk)...Also went 6-4 when teamed with Sarah Lotto...Won Co-MVP as voted upon her teammates...Academic All-Big Ten...Will serve as President of the SAAB (Student-Athlete Advisory Board) this year.
2005-06 SEASON - SOPHOMORE: Lost just one match in fall competition, going 4-1 overall...Posted two two-set victories at November[apos]s Penn State Fall Classic and also combined with Leyla Morzan for a win in doubles play at the Classic...Shular also teamed up with Lauren Holzberg at the Classic to post an 8-5 victory...Played mostly at the No. 4 singles spot for the Nittany Lions throughout the spring season...Picked up a two-set victory versus Minnesota at the Big Ten Championship, helping Penn State to a 4-3 win over the Gophers...Combined with Katelyn BeVard to go 5-5 on the season, playing at the No. 2 doubles spot for the Nittany Lions...The duo won five of its last seven matches, including three-straight versus conference opponents...Posted an overall singles record of 13-12 on the season...Went 4-6 versus Big Ten opponents on the season...Combined with five teammates to post an overall doubles record of 8-11...Received Academic All-Big Ten honors...Was one of 352 student-athletes invited to participate in the 2006 NCAA Leadership Conference...Voted MVP by her teammates last season...Served as Vice President of the SAAB (Student-Athlete Advisory Board).
2004-05 SEASON - FRESHMAN: Shular went 22-5 in her rookie campaign, leading Penn State in total victories and winning percentage...Her 20-3 mark in dual matches was also tops on the team...Went 7-2 at No. 5 singles and 13-1 in the No. 6 spot...Ended the year on a six-match win-streak, winning eight of her final 10 matches...Posted a 10-9 mark in doubles play, including a 5-2 mark at No. 2 doubles with Sasha Abraham...Led Penn State in Big Ten match results with a superb 8-3 mark.
JUNIOR CAREER: Shular was ranked No. 1 in Georgia Girls 18s...Ranked in the Top 20 of a class of over 400...Served as class vice president...Won the Georgia Certificate of Merit...Voted her team[apos]s Most Valuable Tennis Player...Named the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Female Tennis Player of the Year as a junior...Helped her high school to the Georgia AAAAA final four...Won the Georgia 18 singles at the Blue-Gray Junior Classic in 2003.
