Davies Named to Soccer America Team of the Week

Oct. 30, 2007

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After earning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, Tara Davies (Cape May Court House, N.J.) has earned her second honor of the week after being named to Soccer America's Team of the Week. Davies was a integral part of Penn State's defense this past weekend en route to a pair of Big Ten wins over No. 4 Purdue and Indiana.

Davies was assigned the opponent's top attacker all weekend, and left her foes little to show on the scoreboard by the end of the action. Penn State recorded a 1-0 win over No. 4 Purdue on Friday and a 2-1 victory over Indiana on Sunday to move back into first place in the conference standings with one game remaining. The Nittany Lions are the nine-time defending Big Ten champions.

Now ranked seventh nationally, Penn State heads to Ohio State on Friday, Nov. 2, to close out its regular season action at 7:30 p.m. ET. A win would make Penn State, who currently leads Purdue by two points in the standings, the 2007 conference champions.
