Tickets on Sale For Penn State-Texas A&M Valero Alamo Bowl Clash

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; December 2, 2007 - Nittany Lion Club members and 2007 season football tickets holders can purchase tickets tonight for the Penn State-Texas A&M clash in the 2007 Valero Alamo Bowl.

The 15th Valero Alamo Bowl will be played in the 65,000-seat Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday, December 29. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. CT and the contest will air on ESPN, the Penn State Sports Network and GoPSUsports.com, the official website of Penn State Athletics.

The Valero Alamo Bowl will be Joe Paterno's 500th game as head coach of the Nittany Lions.

Tickets are on sale online only at www.GoPSUsports.com. In order to purchase tickets online, buyers will need to have their account number and password.

Nittany Lion Club members and 2007 season football tickets holders also can purchase tickets by phone starting Monday, Dec. 3 at 10:00 a.m. by calling (814) 865-5555 or (800) 863-3336.

There is a limit of ten (10) tickets per person and seat location will be allocated by Nittany Lion Club point totals. Tickets will be mailed the week of December 10.

Nittany Lion Club members with a minimum of 250 points will be eligible to apply for a limited number of club level seats, based on availability.

The general public can purchase Valero Alamo Bowl tickets over the phone beginning Monday, Dec. 3 at 10:00 a.m. ET by calling (814) 865-5555 or (800) 863-3336. There is a limit of ten (10) tickets per person. Tickets will be mailed the week of December 10.

Student bowl tickets will be available via a walk-up sale from on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Beaver Stadium ticket office adjacent to Gate E. Student Nittany Lion Club members will receive priority for ticket purchase and location. SNLC members are encouraged to present their membership card to expedite the buying process. There will be a two (2) ticket limit per student ID and tickets can be purchased with cash only.

Penn State will be making its 40th bowl appearance all-time. The Nittany Lions are No. 3 in the nation with 25 post-season victories and first nationally in bowl winning percentage (66.7, 25-12-2) among schools with at least 10 bowl wins. Coach Joe Paterno is the all-time leader in bowl appearances (34th) and bowl victories (22-10-1 record).

Penn State will be making its second appearance in the Valero Alamo Bowl, defeating Texas A&M, 24-0, in the 1999 contest to finish 10-3. The game drew a standing room only crowd of 65,380, which remains second-largest in Alamo Bowl history. The Nittany Lions will be making their 34th post-season trip under Paterno, who is the all-time leader in bowl wins (22-10-1) and appearances.

The Nittany Lions and Aggies will be meeting for the fourth time, with Penn State leading the series, 2-1. Penn State and Texas A&M also played a home and home series in 1979 and '80. The Aggies won, 27-14, in Beaver Stadium on Sept. 22, 1979. The Nittany Lions captured a 25-9 victory at Kyle Field on Sept. 20, 1980.
