UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's tennis team will compete at home for the first time this season when they host Cornell for the Penn State Invitational on Saturday. This is Cornell's second-straight year attending the invitational.

"We are looking forward to hosting Cornell this weekend," said head coach Dawna Prevette. "This match will be a good test for the spring season. The team has been working very hard these past few weeks and I am excited to see them perform."

Action will begin Saturday morning at the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center at 10 a.m. The tournament will consist of nine singles matches and four doubles matches.

The Nittany Lions are coming off a bye week after having sent two players to the NCAA/ITA East Regional in Norfolk, Va. Oct. 19-21. Senior Jenny Shular (Peachtree City, Ga.) advanced to the second round before falling to fifth-seeded opponent Katarina Zoricic of William & Mary. Sophomore Sarah Lotto (Toronto, Ontario) joined Shular for the doubles competition but the team was defeated in the first round by Amanda Rales and Jennifer Stephens of Virginia.

Saturday marks the end of fall season play for the Nittany Lions. The team will have the rest of the semester off before beginning spring play Sunday, Jan. 27 at the University of Denver.
