Nittany Lion Wrestler Frank Molinaro Claims Title at Cleveland State Open

Dec. 18, 2007

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Penn State Nittany Lion wrestler Frank Molinaro (Barnegat, N.J.) stormed the field at the Cleveland State Open this past weekend to claim the 141-pound weight class title. The unseeded true freshman, wrestling unattached, went 5-0 at the event to win his second open tournament crown.

Molinaro began the tournament with a 7-6 win over Bucknell's Luke Chohany. A pin of Bloomsburg's Ian Desol followed before the young Nittany Lion posted a 10-3 win over third-seeded Adam Koballa. Molinaro then got a medical forfeit win in the semifinals before posting an impressive 6-1 win over top-seeded Mike Hurley of Cleveland State in the finals.

The perfect day improved Molinaro to 11-0 on the year. The red-shirting rookie will return to action with a slew of his teammates at the Wilkes Open on Dec. 29.
