Dec. 20, 2007

University Park, Pa. - Penn State women's golf coach Denise St. Pierre today announced the signing of Pennsylvania native Emily Riddle to a national letter of intent. The native of St. Mary's, Pa. will join the Nittany Lion women's golf squad next fall.

An accomplished junior and prep golfer, Riddle is currently a senior at Elk County Catholic High School. She was won two previous events on the junior circuit. She won the FCWT Stoney Creek earlier this year in April, shooting scores of 77-78 to win by one stroke. She also won the IJGT Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Classic a month later in May as she won by six strokes with scores of 78-74. She also owns a second place finish on the juniors tour as she carded scores of 78-75 to place second in the FCWT Yankee Trace Open this past April. At last year's Pennsylvania State Girls Championships, she finished in third place with scores of 76-82-79. As a sophomore two years ago, she finished in a four-way tie for first place at the PIAA Golf Championships in a weather-shortened one-day event.

The daughter of Gerald and Suzanne Riddle, Emily also had an older brother, Eric, who is currently a junior in the business school at Penn State. Emily is also on the softball team at Elk County Catholic and is also an avid downhill skier.

"We are very excited about Emily Riddle joining us next fall," said St. Pierre. "Emily brings a great deal of playing experience as well as discipline to take her game to the collegiate level. She will be a welcomed addition to our lineup in 2008."
