Penn State Basketball Teams Collect Over 600 Coats And Sweaters For Operation Warm

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Jan. 9, 2007 - The Nittany Lion and Lady Lion basketball teams delivered more than 600 coats and sweaters to the Centre County Salvation Army as their contribution to this year's "Operation Warm." The Penn State basketball programs have teamed up to collect more than 1,500 coats and sweaters for "Operation Warm" in the last three years.

The teams will loaded a van at the Bryce Jordan Center Wednesday morning with bags of coats and sweaters collected from fans at the Lady Lion home game on Jan. 2 vs. Illinois and the Nittany Lion game Dec. 31 vs. Lehigh. Fans were asked to donate coats and sweaters to receive a $5 adult or free youth ticket to the game.

Coats and sweaters collected for "Operation Warm" will be distributed to those in need throughout Centre and Blair counties.

The Lady Lions return to action in the Bryce Jordan Center on Thursday, Jan. 10 vs. Northwestern at 7 p.m., while the Nittany Lions host Minnesota on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m.
