Women's Golf Adds Transfer Victoria Arena to Roster

University Park, Pa. - Penn State head women's golf coach Denise St. Pierre announced today that Victoria Arena has joined the women's golf team for the spring semester. Arena is a transfer from the University of Maryland and will be a freshman on the team this spring.

A native of Lansdale, Pa., she is the daughter of Sam and Christine Arena and she has a younger sister, Samantha. She is a former PIAA champion as she tied with Penn State recruit Emily Riddle for the individual state championship as a junior. Riddle will be joining the Nittany Lions next fall. Arena also finished third in the PIAA state championship as a senior. On the junior circuit, she finished fourth in the AJGA Richmond Junior in July of 2006, shooting scores of 72-77-77. She was also the recipient of the Kodak Young Leaders Award and an AJGA HP Scholastic Junior All- American in her senior year.

With the addition of Arena, the women's golf squad now has 12 members entering the spring season, which begins for the Nittany Lions on Sunday, March 9 at the Pinehurst Challenge in Pinehurst, S.C.
