Personett Honored As Big Ten Women's Gymnast of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State sophomore women's gymnast Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) has been named the Big Ten Women's Co-Gymnast of the Week, conference officials announced today. She shares the award with Iowa's Jenifer Simbhudas. It is the third career weekly honor for Personett as she was also honored on Jan. 23 of this year.

Personett recorded her season-high all-around score and finished in the top two in all four individual events, helping Penn State to its highest team score of the year Saturday at New Hampshire. The sophomore placed second on vault with a 9.875, second on bars with a 9.800, first on beam with a season-high 9.800 and first on floor with a 9.875 to capture the all-around title with a season-best 39.350, also the highest individual all-around score from a Nittany Lion performer this season.

Currently Personett is ranked third in the nation on floor with an average of 9.895 and is tied for 10th in the country on vault with an average of 9.875.

Penn State travels to North Carolina State on Saturday, Feb. 16 and takes on Ohio State on Sunday, Feb. 24 in Columbus, Ohio, in a meet that will be televised by the Big Ten Network before returning home to host Bowling Green, Cortland and George Washington on Saturday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall.
