UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; - After two back-to-back losses against ranked teams last weekend, the Penn State women's tennis team (1-4) will head out on a two-match road trip where they will again face two ranked opponents. The Nittany Lions will take on the Wildcats of Northwestern on Saturday and the Badgers of Wisconsin on Sunday. Both meets will take place at 11 a.m.
Penn State is coming off a 4-3 loss to then No. 53 Marshall and a 5-2 loss to then No. 73 Yale on Sunday. Highlighting last weekend for the Nittany Lions was junior Dorothy Dohanics (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and freshman Denisa Zobeideh (Weston, Fla.). Dohanics defeated Thaddea Lock of Marshall (7-5, 6-0) on Friday and repeated her performance on Sunday with a 7-5, 6-3 defeat of Yale's Stevi Petrelli. Zobeideh defeated Yulia Kashelkina of Marshall (6-0, 6-3) and Lauren Ritz of Yale (6-3, 6-2).
The Wildcats (6-1) are coming off their first loss of the season, falling to Georgia Tech, 4-2, in the final of the ITA Indoor Championships. The Badgers are also coming off a 5-2 loss to William & Mary at the ITA Indoor Championships. Following this weekend's action, the Nittany Lions will have a week off before hosting West Virginia and Columbia the weekend of Feb. 29.
