No. 16 Women's Gymnastics Falls At No. 20 Ohio State

The 16th-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team fell to No. 20 Ohio State, 194.250 to 193.650, Sunday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio. The Big Ten Network will broadcast the meet on a tape-delay basis on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6:00 p.m. ET and again on Sunday, March 2 at 4:00 p.m. ET.

As a team, the Nittany Lions recorded scores of 48.600 on vault, 47.650 on bars, 48.425 on beam and 48.975 on floor.

Individually, sophomore Alexandra Brockway (Macungie, Pa.) finished second in the all-around with a 38.950, sophomore Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) claimed fourth with a 38.600 and sophomore Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) placed fifth with a 38.375.

Personett earned top honors on vault with a 9.800 while Brockway finished 9.750 in a tie for fourth. Freshman Kristina Beck (Jacksonville, Fla.) placed eighth with a 9.725 and Rohrbaugh tallied a 9.675 for ninth while sophomore Rosie Smith (Waterford, Pa.) and freshman Danielle Hover (Hamburg, Pa.) scored a 9.650 and a 9.625, respectively.

On bars, Hover and Brockway both scored a 9.775 to tie for third, a career high mark for Hover. Freshman Heather McElwee (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) also posted a personal best with an eighth-place 9.675. Personett, Rohrbaugh and Smith recorded scores of 9.275, 9.150 and 9.050, respectively, to close out the Penn State competitors.

Brockway took home the beam crown with a 9.750 and Rohrbaugh and Hover both scored a 9.725 to tie for second. Freshman Melissa Klein (Oceanside, N.Y.) produced a 9.625 to place sixth and Personett tallied a 9.600 for seventh while McElwee notched a 9.050 for 12th place.

Behind a season-high 9.925, Personett placed second on the floor and both Beck and Rohrbaugh scored a 9.825 for sixth, a career high score for Beck. Smith produced a 10th-place 9.725, Brockway tallied an 11th-place 9.675 and McElwee notched a 12th-place 9.650.

The Nittany Lions return home to host Bowling Green, Cortland and George Washington on Saturday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall.
