University Park, Pa. - The Penn State baseball program today announced the game times and two changes to the previously released game schedule for its upcoming spring break trip to West Palm Beach, Fla. The Nittany Lions will play eight games over an eight-day span beginning next Sunday, March 9 and ending the following Sunday, March 16.
Penn State will begin the trip next Sunday with a 3:15 p.m. game against Air Force. The Nittany Lions had originally been scheduled to open the trip with a game against Georgetown on Sunday. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between Penn State and the Air Force Academy.
On Monday, Penn State will play Monmouth at 4:00 p.m. On Tuesday, the Nittany Lions will play a morning game against Connecticut at 11:00 a.m. before heading down to Coral Gables, Fla. for a 7:00 p.m. game at Miami. That will be followed up by another game against Connecticut on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
After an off-day on Thursday, the Nittany Lions will take on the Penn Quakers on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, Penn State will now take on Bethune-Cookman at 1:00 p.m. The Nittany Lions had previously been scheduled to play Pittsburgh. Penn State will still play the Panthers later this season as they will travel to Pitt for a midweek game on Wednesday, April 9 at 6:00 p.m. The Nittany Lions played Bethune-Cookman twice during their spring break trip two years ago in 2006 in Clearwater, Fla., going 1-1 against the Wildcats in their only two previous meetings with Bethune-Cookman. Penn State, which played two morning games this past weekend in Dothan, Ala., will wrap up the spring break trip with another morning game on Sunday, March 16 at 10:15 a.m. against Cornell.
All of Penn State's games on the spring break trip except for the game at Miami will be held at the Santaluces Sports Complex, a four-field complex that was the former minor league spring training home of the Montreal Expos. The game against Bethune-Cookman is currently not scheduled to be on one of those fields but it will be held at a nearby field.
