UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 20th-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team finished first in its quad meet with a score of 195.025, its third-highest score of the year. George Washington placed second (192.575), Bowling Green finished third (189.800) and SUNY Cortland placed fourth (183.800).
As a team, Penn State recorded scores of 48.975 on vault, 48.550 on bars, 48.200 on beam and a season-best 49.300 on floor.
Sophomore Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) captured her fourth all-around title of the season with a 39.175 while sophomore Alexandra Brockway (Macungie, Pa.) placed second with a 38.750 and freshman Kristina Beck (Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded a career-high 38.075 to place fifth.
Senior Aslynn Satterfield (Boalsburg, Pa.) earned the Ann Carr Award for the most inspirational gymnast of the meet.
Penn State opened the meet on vault, as Satterfield captured her first individual title of the year on the apparatus with a career-high 9.875. Personett posted a 9.850 for second while sophomore Rosie Smith (Waterford, Pa.) notched a 9.800 to tie for fourth. Beck and sophomore Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) both produced scores of 9.725 to tie for eighth and Brockway recorded a 10th-place 9.700.
The Nittany Lions claimed the top four places on the uneven bars, with Brockway taking home her fifth individual crown with a 9.825. Personett, Smith and Beck earned the next three spots, recording scores of 9.750, 9.700 and 9.675, respectively. Freshman Danielle Hover (Hamburg, N.Y.) posted a 9.600 to tie for eighth place and freshman Heather McElwee (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) recorded a 9.525.
On beam, Rohrbaugh captured her second title of the year with a career-high-tying 9.850. Hover and Personett placed fifth and sixth, respectively, with scores of 9.700 and 9.625. Brockway came in ninth with a 9.600 while freshman Melissa Klein (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Beck rounded out the Penn State competitors with scores of 9.425 and 8.900.
The Nittany Lions again put together another strong floor appearance as the recorded their season-high as a team. Personett took home her sixth individual crown with a 9.950, her second-highest score of the year and her seventh score of 9.900 or better on floor. Rohrbaugh recorded a career-high 9.875 for second while Smith and Satterfield tied for third with a 9.850, a personal-best-tying mark for Smith. Beck placed sixth with a 9.775 and Brockway tallied a 9.625 for 11th.
Penn State takes to the road for the next two weekends, competing at Arizona State on March 7 and at Alabama on March 14 before returning home to host Maryland, Rutgers and Nebraska on Friday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall in a meet that will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
